|

A man who is accused of a breaking into a woman's home, beating her in front of her 3-year-old daughter and stealing property from her residence is now facing extensive prison time, according to reporting by Fox News. Law enforcement was trying to find the person who committed the home invasion, which was caught on video through a "nanny cam" that was hidden in the home. The incident occurred in Milburn, New Jersey.

According to the news story, the man who is being believed to have attacked the woman has been charged with attempted murder, robbery, burglary and child endangerment. In the video, a man is shown assaulting the woman multiple times (punching and kicking her, leaving and then coming back to continue) and throwing her down the basement stairs while her three-year-old daughter watched. The man is even reported to have tried to strangle the woman at one point. The woman's 1-year-old son was also upstairs during the attack, according to the news story.

The 42 man who is being accused of being the culprit in the attack and robbery was arrested on June 28 in Manhattan by the FBI and the Essex County prosecutor's office, as noted by Fox News. If he is convicted of the attempted murder charge, he could end up spending 10 to 20 years in prison. A conviction for the burglary charged would lead to three to five years in prison.

The man who has been arrested and charged in connection with this attack is facing some serious criminal allegations. It has yet to be proven that this is actually the same man from the video. There are many scenarios in which people who have appearances that are similar to certain criminals are falsely accused, and even sometimes falsely convicted. Prosecutors will need to be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the correct man was apprehended.
